About
Vera Photo Club is a club for everyone who is interested in photography.
Our meetings are usually held on the first Sunday of the month from 10.00 -13.00.
However, during the Covid epidemic we held two shorter ‘virtual’ zoom meetings.
Our first meeting is presentation of members photos relating to the monthly challenge. A member or guest is invited to critique the photos in a friendly and constructive manner to encourage and educate us all.
Now we meet in hotel Puntazo, Mojacar Playa, to have our “challenge”meeting, which is a live meeting with zoom-connection.
The mid-month meeting is to view presentations on a wide variety of topics from fellow photographers and guests. This is held online.

Stan Roberts 2nd January 1938 - 4th November 2014
Stanley Baldwin, known as Stan to everyone but also by his professional jazz name Stan Roberts, founded Vera Photo Club in 2010. At that time the club consisted of three members but rapidly grew to have a membership of well over 100.
The reason for this was not hard to fathom for those who knew Stan. He was a unique and wonderful person, loved and respected by all. He knew every member by name and welcomed them all equally. Before the start of the monthly meetings in Frankie’s Bar, and later the Blue Parrot, Stan could be seen walking around talking to everyone present.
The club brought together his interest in people and his love of photography, not only through the monthly meetings but in his everyday life. He was keen for everyone to learn and progress with their own photography and always strived to do better himself, maybe without fully recognizing the quality of his own work. He ran a studio in Mojacar and urged club members to use it. He persuaded people to model for him and encouraged those who wanted to pursue a professional career.
His passing, as sudden and shocking as it was, brought much sadness but many happy memories. The photo of Stan on the club’s banner sums him up to a T. He loved life and gave pleasure in equal measures. Thank you Stan, we will never forget you.
