Fichering and Spot Welding

Roger Hinton from the Bon Accord Camera Club, Scotland will be giving a presentation of his work.

He uses creative post processing to achieve his results.

Having spent much of his career pushing pixels around to generate oilfield models, I’ve probably had a fine apprenticeship for playing around with Photoshop in retirement.

My images combine a broad spectrum of material gathered from many sources such as landscapes, street photography, studio shots, and distressed surfaces (old boats, weathered materials). Some photos are taken with a particular idea in mind, others provide the seed for a new direction. From a competition point of view some work, others clearly don’t. A lot depends on the judge!

The burning question is whether manipulated creative images can be considered as photography or should be classed as digital art.

The results may well be impossible to create in camera but there is no doubt that the genre is becoming more popular. Especially as photo-editing software becomes more sophisticated.
