Janet Hornsey
I first became interested in photography (and travelling) through my father. He has a huge collection of slides taken on our many family holidays touring in a caravan around the UK. This interest was rekindled when our boys had left for university and my husband and I embarked on a gap year in 2012. We started by volunteering at the Olympics before setting off with backpacks to travel around the world. We headed for Cuba first and ended by meeting up with family in Africa.
We only had space in our bags for compact cameras.By taking about a hundred photos a day and writing a daily blog we learned “on the job” and the improvement in quality was noticeable as the year progressed. This has led to a preference for landscape and wildlife photography as the world has many amazing sights. To try and remember all the incredible experiences we keep an on line blog at www.thehornseys.com.
I now use a Fuji XT1 which I find much lighter than a full frame camera but still is very capable and has many features to master.
